Measuring the economy

It would be marvelous if in the future, a certain ID tag is associated with every person, such that we are able to track the purchases and consumption of every individual. We could for example, link our credit cards or similar cards our ICs. With the correct data mining tools, some software, easily programmable, the govt can easily track the consumption patterns of every individual. The problem is that there be people paying by cash, especially those belonging to lower income group. Perhaps technology can advance to the stage where our currency can be replaced by electronic credits. The total number of credits in the economy will have to be strictly controlled as a fixed global variable in the language of the programmers. To move credits, from one place to another, transactions will have to be made by unique thumb prints, on those superb laser scan optical devices.

With the consumption patterns of the economy, the govt can perhaps have greater ability to cater to the needs of the different income groups. This comes in light of the problems of trying to decide the size of the portion to distribute to the different groups of people. From consumption patterns we can easily see the standard of living of different people, and target who are people who really needs help.
