The last Dance

Ah well, we are finally at the last chalet that we will ever experience as a class in the times to come. All in all, a rather fruitful chalet, with nice roomy space, orderly activities and rather meaningful and fun ones too. Even though the location wasnt very attractive. Blessing in disguise actually, forces us to travel to elsewhere to eat, instead of being stuck in chalet, eating cup noodles and unfilling BBQ.

Chalet overall was fun. More fun than all the other chalets I've had so far. Possibly because your capable CT rep was good in getting meaningful activities into the chalet. If others can cook better than you do, than let others do it, while you use that time to have other fun. So no BBQ, no cup noodles, hee hee. There's Monopoly(Oligopoly actually), Risk(did not really take alot of risk, it lasted 3 hours of pure collusion and negotiation), Uno stacko, and some miscellaneous card games. Oh and there's always the good old mahjong, and the xbox games, of which the 3 I took liberty to engage in 24 hrs of non-stop gaming.

There's good ending too. Was not too bad at Vivo, though it was not very savoury to have a group lug their holiday things around.

Watched Enchanted while at Tampines mall, and found it was quite ok, though quite lame and funny at parts. Can see elements from old fairy tales present in this one, such as, Cinderella, Snow White, Little Mermaid, Sleeping Beauty..etc.

Personally, I think the movie was very good in showing us the problem of unnecessarily complicated choices, and also the reverse, the problem of oversimplification. Some times, we make things appear alot more complicated than they really are. If we can settle for something less complicated, why torture yourself? Models of reality, present in science, and arts, are really trying to do this. Represent something with something simpler to comprehend. As humans, we all not really equipped to think through so many choices and make the most rational choice. For one, we will be swamped by the sheer amount of information. For another, the time taken to make the choice might be quite big. So, we simplify. Make everything straightforward. Other people say, reducing your choices is not good, for you are only as powerful as your choices. But I think, the art of reducing your own choices can be really good, because it clarifies the situation, and you can make a decision more easily.

You know, organising a chalet is not about getting a place. Ultimately, you are trying to organise an atmosphere for other people to enjoy in. This atmosphere is not easy to create, because atmosphere must be created by the human participants. It can be aided by nice fun group activities. And eating cup noodles and playing card games are not the only activities that achieve this.

I dunno whether there will be anymore chalets to come, at least for S18, I think the show is drawing to a close. I cant help but sigh. A class that I've tried to help pull together, for sake of memories, and a reluctance to leave things to fate. As we dance our last, we make way for a new stage.
