Chinese New Year ~_~

Ok, its another Chinese New Year, but different circumstances. Before all those crappy talk, well, people, please enjoy what is left of the 15 days of CNY, but most peeps will probably get on with their lives on Wednesday..

After having so many public holidays a year, from different races and cultures, I think the distinction of my celebration vs. your celebration is practically gone. Its a holiday anyway, and people are just grateful for the time out to have a break.

On a very interesting sidenote, there is a occurence of a solar eclipse today, Singapore time ~5.35 pm. Unfortunately the sky is overcast, but I did observe that the sky did darken unnaturally at the time. Such a coincidental occurence of a solar eclipse and the lunar new year, is definitely rare, and has been traditionally seen as a sign of bad omen. But for us more scientifically-well studied people, we can be pleasantly surprised by this fortuitous event, and remind ourselves that the new moon will wax over the next 15 days of the lunar new year.

Its off to New Zealand for me tomorrow, evening, for a 10 hours flight, plus 8 hours coach to our campsite. Be back in one piece(hopefully) on the 13th Feb.
