Quirks of Exams

Oh yea, here comes the exams again. You know, its almost like a ritual or rite that everyone must go through every quarter of the year. The ritual would contain stuff like compulsive obssessive memorising of notes. And also stuff like praying to the gods, giving them offering in the form of maths practice, and TYS practice. Oh, and the hiring of mediums, like teachers to give extra tutoring.

Incidentally, I encountered 2 irrational acts by students.

No.1: Not using the GC fully.
When the GC was allowed, people feared the over-reliance of GC was making things too easy for the students. And that the students would forget how to to calculations by hand. And students would become hooked on GC just like we are hooked on ordinary calculators now.

But it appears that very little people are using GC fully indeed. Preferring to use tried and tested methods of doing calculations, people are using a lot time completing the paper than necessary, if they finish the paper that is. It seems that the GC is too technologically advanced for many people to comprehend it. And it does not help that is very bulky and heavy for a calculator. Of which many people would just use a ordinary scientific calculator instead.

Oh well, my personal goal for this maths test is to spam the GC on every qn, unless the qn says 'EXACT FORMS REQUIRED'.

No.2: Hoarding extremely old TYS that carry outdated syllabus.
Reading the Sunday Times today, I found that students actually hoard those TYS..Lol, that is one of the most irrational acts ever.. Hoping to corner the market and create a monopoly? Then sell those TYS at high prices? Must be. But whats the use of an old and outdated syllabus? Even though its 25 years ago, it does not mean it will come out again, simply its not in the syllabus.Haiz, whats more, for the case of science, the subject is ever improving itself..It is even possible that the syllabus 25 years ago is DEAD wrong. You know, stuff like Pluto, limewater turn chalky, ammonium hydroxide.. These are now wrong concepts, so whats the use of mugging them??

Oh well, as I said, quirks of the education system.
